A personal story of battling with a monster called depression and coming out of it. How I leveraged this feeling into a victorious opportunity.

Read The Second Part Here If you have been following my earlier account, you know I was desperate for a solution. I had to come up with a strong rock hard solution that would kick depression out of my life.

And I Did.

One solution to my problem was the following:

As I sat on my bed one day, completely unmotivated, I realized, how lucky was I to sleep on a comfortable bed. I had all these things around me that many people could only dream of (may their dreams come true!). This led me to clear my mind and to concentrate only on the things, people and events I was grateful for.

The happy times in my life.

When I started counted, there were many things in my life which were great! From clean drinking water to a comfortable bed. Often we take many things in life for granted and chase after even bigger things, and if we don't achieve them, we tend to sulk and get depressed.

One sure way of combating this state is gratitude. Gratitude will initiate the flow of happiness back into your life. And trust me, it will stay for a long time. You need to practice gratitude daily, and you will start feeling the changes and even witnessing them.

If you are suffering from depression, keep a hand on your heart and for a few minutes just think about all the happy things that you are thankful for, they could be small or big. If you can't think of something good or negative thoughts creep in between, don't worry! Write your good memories down or see your old photographs or home videos. The more senses you would employ for this practice, the greater the results would be.
