When nothing goes your way, you have to create your way.

We tend to fall into these dark holes of self-doubt and despair ever so often. It is tremendously important to pick yourself back up and complete your goals. What to do when you are in a rut and can't seem to get out of it? What to do when you feel stuck and like nothing is going your way. There are some super easy tips that you can follow that will shift your focus and help you see things from a different perspective and inspire you to be your best self.
1. Consuming Media:
We may tend to think that what we watch or read has no consequence in our life as it is pure entertainment. That is not true. Whatever media you choose to consume changes your way of thinking as most of the time, you are completely engrossed in whatever you are watching. Don't you feel sad when a virtual character that you liked doesn't win his or her battle? Doesn't that feeling stay with you? Wouldn't that affect your real life events if you are feeling down?
If you are someone who is easily affected by emotions and events, it is best to avoid tv shows or books that show too much violence, gore, drugs, etc. If you want to feel better invest your time and energy to watch a comedy that makes you laugh or something that inspires you to give your all, if you want to watch drama, choose a light-hearted one or a fiction that your brain can easily detach from it. Same goes for music if you have had a break-up, listening to sad songs about lost love can only intensify that feeling and make you feel worse. Putting up a peppy track even if you don't feel it may improve your mood a little.
Choose the media you consume carefully as it has a significant impact on how inspired or down you feel.
2. Social Media
I can't stress this enough, and social media is one of the worst things to be on if you are looking to improve yourself. It is not all bad as I have taken inspiration from the lovely travel photos to fit bodies, but at least in my case, that inspiration is short lived and turns extremely fast to the comparison which then turns into despair maybe sometimes jealousy as I do not have that six pack yet. What social media fails to mention is the amount of energy, time, effort, and money that was put in for that single photo.
People who have your "dream body" have many factors playing out in their life that are different than you, for example, an Instagram comment made by actress Jameela Jamil stated how celebrities have everything from a personal nutritionist to plastic surgeons and promote falsely that their body is the result of "a slimming tea". There are a lot of lies, photoshop, and face tune that goes into it. And we fail to consider all these aspects many a time.
If you get disheartened and compare yourself, it is better to log off and focus on your journey. Be inspired by real journies and real methods that can help you in achieving what you want!
3. Believe in yourself and your blessings
The key to inspiration is believing in yourself. People around you are not the authority on your capabilties neither is the educational system. Remember if people followed what others projected on them, there would be no inventions, growth or great people who rose against all the odds in this world. If the world is not in your favor, drown the world out and believe in your capabilities.
A little faith will go a long way. Another way to stay inspired is to count your blessings and be thankful for them. If you are reading this, it is, and you are blessed because you have access to the Internet and a device plus you are taking steps to improve yourself which is the best thing an individual can focus upon. Look around you, and you will find many things to be grateful for, and it will surely increase your happiness.
(I have used motivation and inspiration in a similar and general sense in this article)
