There were once two old, sick men in a hospital. As they were placed together in a single room, their beds were side by side; they grew to be best of friends. They both were suffering from terminal diseases.

One of the old men had his bed near the window whereas the other one was next to him. Often he described glorious outside scenes which he could see from the window to his friend. He used to speak of the colorful birds that painted the sky, the beautiful mesmerizing evening sky, the laughter of children in a nearby park, the happy couples taking a stroll and much much more.

The other friend used to listen in amazement and felt happiness listening to his friend’s monolog.

One day the old man near the window passed away. His friend was heartbroken and requested the hospital staff to shift him to the window bed where his friend previously lay.

One he was shifted, he was shocked beyond measure.

There was a brick wall that blocked the window.

His friend had tears in his eyes. He was so astonished by his friend’s way of living. When he asked the nurse about it, she told him that the man was blind!

Even in the darkest hours, he did not let the brick wall or his blindness stop his happiness. His last moments were full of content, and he had made his last memories beautiful.

He closed his eyes and imagined the scene that his friend used to describe to him. A soul-satisfying happiness swept over him.

No matter how bad the situation is, your mind and your imagination hold power to transform it and make you happy.
